What is a Deeper Pro Plus?
In short is a castable fish finder and depth reader. Whereas in the past, anglers used to use a plumb line and notebook, now you have the ability to cast the deeper pro plus out into the water and, via Bluetooth, have the results streamed live to your phone.
The Deeper Pro plus picks up both fish and underwater features so you can fish intelligently to give you the best possible chance.
How does the Deeper Pro Plus work?
It actually works in the same way as sonar on a submarine. High frequency soundwaves (90kHz/290kHz) are transmitted from the device, they hit the bottom (or the fish) and then are reflected back to the device. Which, by using some technological knowhow displays this data in pictorial format. To see how it works in real life, check out the video below...
Why use a Deeper Pro Plus?
This wouldn’t be much of a deeper pro plus review if we didn’t talk about some of its features. Firstly as the saying goes, knowledge is power. If you can accurately identify where fish are likely to be holding then you have more chance of catching them. This is a task that the Deeper Pro Plus performs admirably.
It is accurate to a depth of 260ft, meaning that even the deepest darkest pits are able to be surveyed. Connectivity on the fish finder is pretty decent too with a range of around 100m most anglers will not outcast it.
The app that comes with the Deeper fish finder is also pretty neat. You can use it in ‘real time’ to give a cross sectional view of the underwater features, or if you have a bit of time you can cast several times and log an underwater ‘map’ displayed in a birds eye view.
If you fish a venue regularly this is handy, as the app will allow you to store several different swims. The app is compatible with most devices, so whether you use Android or Apple you’ll have seamless integration from the very first cast.
The display in itself is interesting, not only does it give you depths but it also provides an assessment of what the lake bed is likely to be made of. When choosing rigs this information can be vitally important. To see what we are talking about in our Deeper Pro Plus review have a look at this video for some handy tips and tricks...
Are there any downsides to the Deeper Pro Plus?
We are going to say no, not really. But there are things that you may want to consider before you use it. Firstly from a purists point of view we suppose it might be considered gaining an unfair advantage, but that said We are sure the carp aren’t thinking the same on days we have a ‘blank’.
Whilst it is interesting to use, we aren’t sure that other anglers fishing nearby may feel the same, so use it with consideration. Whilst it is pretty compact it certainly isn’t small when compared to other castable tackle, so repetitive casting and reeling in may very well scare the fish you are trying to catch. Ideally, you would also need a distance rod or a spod rod to take both the weight and the repetitiveness using this tool brings.
The unit is moderately priced, but it gets expensive if you manage to cast one over the horizon never to be seen again. Whilst they Deeper pro plus say that you can just tie it to your mainline, we would recommend taking a spool of something super strong and triple checking your knots prior to casting.
The final point we’ll make in our deeper pro plus review isn’t a downside as such, but if you are holding your phone it can make it hard to reel in and map the bottom simultaneously. However Deeper have thought of this and there is a fishing rod mount available so you can have both hands free whilst holding your rod and reeling in.

How do you attach the Deeper Pro Plus?
Ensure the top cover is screwed on tightly with the Water Proof marks perfectly aligned. This is important to prevent water penetrating the fish finder which could cause damage. To screw the top cover on, turn it anti-clockwise until it dips, then turn it clockwise until it is screwed on tightly.
Once fully tightened and aligned, take the attachment bolt and securely tie it to your fishing line. Check the knot is fully secure before attempting to cast out. Another point to note is that when casting to a feature such as an island, ensure that your reel is ready clipped to prevent any painful and expensive snap offs via snags and trees!
